About the Artist
My name is Patti Reen. I live with my husband in beautiful Holland, Michigan. I have three delightful adult daughters, who are my pride and joy.
After many years as a custom drapery seamstress and then an interior house painter, among other distractions, I launched myself into a nursing career. Now that I’m mostly retired, I’ve immersed myself in making textile and mosaic art.
Since my grandmother taught me knitting and embroidery at age 8, I’ve kept my hands busy doing some kind of fiber art and passed on the love of making things by hand to my girls.
Quilting came in my 20s, followed by primitive rug hooking in my 30s. A lucky find while browsing in my favorite bookstore led me to discover Punch Needle Embroidery in my 40s, which I am now continuing to explore.
For my 60th birthday, I took a weekend seminar at the Chicago Mosaic School. I can now indulge my love for color and folk art using stained glass, dichroic glass, and various natural materials.
My work has been shown most recently at the Capizzo Gallery in Saugatuck, Michigan, and the Saugatuck Douglas Art Club (SDAC) Members Show in July 2024. Select pieces are available for sale at Ox-Bow House Gallery in Douglas, Michigan. I am an SDAC member and belong to the Lakeshore Fiber Arts Guild.
